Financial Aid Help

I am a single mother of a toddler. I just started a new job and am looking to go back to school soon. My problems are this-

 1. I need to move out of my home. I am in an emotionally abusive relationship and my daughter and I can't live like this anymore. But I don't have the $$ to rent an apartment.

2. I work until 11PM some evenings and my daughter's daycare isn't open that late. I can't leave my situation until I have childcare for her in the evenings (right now my "boyfriend" watches her).

3. The daycare also needs to accept my state funding.

4. I need financial aid for school and possibly to help offset my bills. I'm only working about 25 hours a week- it was all I could find after being out of work for over a month. I will get full time eventually but not for a few months at least.

I live in Cook County in Illinois. Anything anyone could tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I have been through this program where they give you an apartment and you just pay 10% of your income for 2 years and they have tons of ways that they help you to be independant and grow in your life.  The woman there are wonderful and sweet, even if you don't qualify for that program they do have others and then you work your way up to other programs like the one I explained above.  Being a single mother does give you alot of resources.  The place where I went for the housing program was CEDA NORTHWEST.  I also got a free used car from Catholic Charities, that was a while ago but they might still offer that. Below I will list some numbers of places who help mothers in cook county.  Good luck!  You have work to do but just have faith. Alot of these places are very busy as you could imagine, but be persistant in a nice way so you aren't sitting around waiting.

Public Aid has a website of resources at www.dhs.state.il.us

Ceda Northwest 847-392-2332 my fav

Catholic Charities 847-376-2101 for the car and possibly housing

womans resource center 847-823-0453

Home of the sparrow 815-444-1660 this place has rent assistance as well as a shelter for moms and then you move up to an apartment

Wings 847-908-0910 or 847-348-3001 this place usually has a waiting list

Salvation Army 847-392-0265 I never spoke with them but came across the number, you could call and see if they have any housing assistance

there is always Wheeling Township, it's in Arlington Heights on Arlington Heights Rd
